Artist's Comments

I thought I would try a "dark" manipulation. It took me forever (it seems) to get the lighting how I wanted it. I do like how it turned out. I hope you all do, too.

Thank you to the following artists for the use of their wonderful stock images!

I give permsission for all the clubs in which I belong to post this deviation!!!

Critiques

:iconpurplecupcakes:
I may not know much about photomanipulation but I do know a good deal about lighting and while I like this image there are some problems with it.

The woman is lit from the left hand side while the castle is lit from the top right hand side. Its not possible for the light to act like that, the viewer’s mind picks up on that and instead of enjoying the beautiful scene before them they see only the errors and are left feeling uneasy about the image. That’s not what you want, but thankfully the fix for this is a simple one.

Flip the woman. Flip her so her lit side is the right side, the same as the castle. Once she is flipped drop her down a step so she looks as if she is still climbing the steps and paint some highlights on the top right hand side of her hair so it looks as if the light is hitting her in the same way as it is hitting the castle.

Thank you very much! :glomp: I used the same model I used in my first one and the same background as well, but none of the other stock images I looked at seemed appropriate for what I wanted to do. I am glad you like it. You should give it a try sometime. It is so much fun! =D

I noticed the model was the same. If you'd like I can pose myself for some manips for you :D Just tell me what pose and outfit you have in mind and I'll see what I can come up with. I am considering doing a Gimp tutorial to learn how to do all this stuff. But I may hold off until this fall when I can afford to buy photoshop. I can't decide. You know how I am!

Something seems a bit off. Maybe the size of the grass.
Otherwise well done, I'd say. :)

Oh, this is nice. The grass throws off the picture a bit as it loses the sense of distance/height with the other components. I like it though since it fits with the scene.

I never seem to find the time to sit down and do manipulations. Good for you for picking up PSE 7 so quick!
