Artist's Comments

Best seen in full view!

I probably will not win, but I created this piece for a contest. It is posted under conceptual because I wanted it to appear as if the child were being handed to it's mother from Heaven, hence the light coming from above. The butterflies are symbols of life and rebirth in some religions and cultures, and I thought they would be appropriate in this piece. I know they don't look totally realistic, but they are not meant to. I wanted it to have a surreal feel to it. I hope you all like this piece, I put a lot of effort into it.

Thank you to the following great artists for the use of their stock images:

:iconmysteria-dl: Background/Sky
:icontala-stock: Full Moon
:iconshoofly-stock: Butterflies
:iconmabby00stock: Hands
:iconauroradreams: Baby Model

I give permission for all clubs to submit my artwork!

I like the concept of this one, and it is nicely executed with the choice of stock images that you have used in this manipulation. The tones and coloration of the baby, hands, background, and moon fit well together, but the butterflies seem too bright and don't seem to really be a part of the image. This could be fixed by reducing the opacity of some of them and doing different things with them to make it more dynamic and realistic, even though its fantasy-like. The purple moon doesn't really blend with the background on the edges, but it blends well in coloration. This issue with the edges could be fixed in different ways depending on what type of effect you want to achieve. You could reduce the opacity of the moon so that it sort of fades into the background, or if you don't want to make the moon stand out less than it does now, then you could use the eraser tool with a soft edge at a reduced opacity along the edge to try to make it fit better with the background. Try to make it look more like it does in the bottom left portion of the moon, that part blends well with the background. But other than that issue with the moon, and the butterflies, everything else is done nicely.

This is a very nice piece, but the only thing that bugs me is the fact that it's a bag that the baby is being handed in. Makes me think the baby is suffocating.
But it seems to be necessary. So good job.

Thank you. Oh, and just so you know, it is hard to tell unless you view the photomanipulation in full view, but it is actually a net that the baby is in. The original link was like that, I didn't add it. In fact, what you said never even occured to me! I see where that would bother you, though!
